Ingredients
Scale
1 pound bulk pork sausage, uncooked
2 cups Bisquick baking mix
2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, combine the bulk sausage, Bisquick baking mix, and shredded cheddar cheese.
Mix the ingredients thoroughly with your hands until they are just combined. Do not overmix.
Roll the mixture into small balls, about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter. Place them on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the sausage balls are golden brown and cooked through.
Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly on the pan before serving.
Notes
For make-ahead preparation, you can assemble the balls and place them uncooked on a baking sheet. Freeze them until solid, then transfer the frozen balls to a freezer bag. Bake from frozen, adding about 5 minutes to the baking time.
You can substitute Monterey Jack or a Colby-Jack blend for the cheddar cheese if you prefer a different flavor profile.
For a spicy version, use hot pork sausage or add 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper to the mix.
