Make versatile shredded buffalo chicken using your slow cooker for simple weeknight meals or game day appetizers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 (10 oz) bottle of your favorite buffalo wing sauce
  • 1/2 cup ranch dressing or blue cheese dressing
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cut into pieces
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Instructions

  1. Place the chicken breasts in the bottom of your slow cooker.
  2. Pour the buffalo wing sauce, ranch or blue cheese dressing, garlic powder, and onion powder over the chicken.
  3. Place the butter pieces evenly over the top of the chicken and sauce mixture.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours or on high for 3 to 4 hours, until the chicken is fully cooked and tender.
  5. Remove the chicken breasts and shred them using two forks.
  6. Return the shredded chicken to the slow cooker and stir well to coat completely with the sauce.
  7. Keep warm on the ‘Keep Warm’ setting until ready to serve.

Notes

  • Shred the chicken directly in the slow cooker for maximum flavor absorption.
  • Serve this shredded chicken on buns for sliders, over rice for bowls, or mixed into macaroni and cheese.
  • For a thicker sauce, remove the lid for the last 30 minutes of cooking time.
