Bake this easy, super moist banana bread packed with chocolate chips for a rich, decadent loaf.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 very ripe large bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup milk chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the mashed bananas, melted butter, brown sugar, egg, and vanilla extract until just combined.
  3. In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients. Mix with a spatula until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Gently fold in both types of chocolate chips.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  7. Bake for 55 to 65 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs attached.
  8. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before turning it out onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For an extra fudgy texture, use slightly underripe bananas.
  • If your oven runs hot, check the bread at 50 minutes.
  • You can substitute 1/4 cup of the flour with almond flour for a slightly different texture.
