A rich, gooey chocolate pecan pie with a sweet, crunchy topping, perfect for holidays.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (9-inch) unbaked deep-dish pie crust
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 3 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped pecans, plus 1 cup whole pecans for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Place the pie crust on a baking sheet.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the sugar, corn syrup, eggs, melted butter, vanilla extract, and salt until combined.
  3. Stir in the chocolate chips and the 1 cup of chopped pecans.
  4. Pour the filling mixture into the unbaked pie crust.
  5. Arrange the remaining 1 cup of whole pecans evenly over the top of the filling.
  6. Bake for 50 to 60 minutes. The center should be mostly set but still slightly jiggly.
  7. Cool the pie completely on a wire rack for at least 3 hours before slicing. This allows the filling to set properly.

Notes

  • For a fudgier texture, similar to Texas Chocolate Pecan Pie, slightly reduce the corn syrup to 3/4 cup.
  • If the crust edges brown too quickly, cover them loosely with aluminum foil halfway through baking.
  • You can substitute milk chocolate chips for semi-sweet if you prefer a sweeter pie.
