Ingredients
Scale
1 (25 ounce) package frozen cheese ravioli
24 ounces marinara sauce
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup ricotta cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 pound ground beef (optional)
1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
1 egg
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
If using ground beef, brown the beef in a skillet over medium heat. Drain any excess fat.
In a large bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, and egg. Mix well.
Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
Arrange half of the frozen ravioli in a single layer over the sauce.
Spread half of the ricotta mixture evenly over the ravioli layer. Sprinkle with one-third of the mozzarella cheese. If using beef, sprinkle half of the cooked beef over this layer.
Spoon half of the remaining marinara sauce over the cheese layer.
Repeat the layers: remaining ravioli, remaining ricotta mixture, one-third of the mozzarella, remaining beef (if using), and remaining marinara sauce.
Top the casserole evenly with the remaining mozzarella cheese.
Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the sauce is bubbly and the cheese is melted and lightly browned.
Let the casserole rest for 10 minutes before cutting and serving.
Notes
For a make ahead option, assemble the casserole completely, cover it tightly with foil, and refrigerate for up to 24 hours. Add 10 to 15 minutes to the baking time if baking directly from the refrigerator.
You can substitute turkey or sausage for the ground beef.
If you prefer a less cheesy top, reduce the mozzarella to 1 1/2 cups.
