Make rich, flavorful garlic butter in minutes using fresh ingredients. This compound butter is perfect for bread, steak, or vegetables.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • 6 cloves fresh garlic, minced very finely
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Place the softened butter in a medium bowl.
  2. Add the minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and pepper to the bowl.
  3. Use a fork or a rubber spatula to mix all ingredients together until they are completely combined and uniform in color. Do not overmix.
  4. Place the mixture onto a sheet of plastic wrap or parchment paper.
  5. Roll the butter into a tight log shape. Twist the ends of the wrap to seal it.
  6. Refrigerate the garlic butter log for at least 1 hour to firm up before using.
  7. When ready to use, slice off rounds of the chilled butter.

Notes

  • For a deeper flavor, use roasted garlic instead of raw minced garlic.
  • Add 1 teaspoon of fresh lemon zest for a brighter taste.
  • Store the wrapped log in the refrigerator for up to two weeks or freeze for up to three months.
