Ingredients
Scale
1 loaf French baguette or Italian bread (about 12 inches long)
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
4 cloves garlic, minced finely
1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper.
In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix until you have a smooth garlic butter spread.
Slice the loaf of bread in half lengthwise, creating two long halves.
Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over the cut surfaces of both bread halves, covering them completely.
Place the bread halves, butter-side up, on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the edges start to turn light golden brown.
Remove the bread from the oven. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese evenly over both halves, followed by the Parmesan cheese.
Return the bread to the oven and bake for another 3 to 5 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted and bubbly.
Remove from the oven, let cool for 2 minutes, then slice into 1-inch thick pieces before serving.
Notes
For a stronger garlic flavor, let the garlic butter mixture sit for 15 minutes before spreading it on the bread.
If you prefer a softer interior, wrap the bread loosely in foil before the first bake, then remove the foil for the last few minutes to melt the cheese.
Use fresh garlic for the best taste; avoid jarred minced garlic if possible.
