Make a rich, gooey chocolate pie with a texture similar to a warm brownie. This recipe is simple to prepare and best served warm with ice cream.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pre-made 9-inch pie crust (or use your favorite homemade crust)
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, cut into pieces
  • 4 ounces unsweetened chocolate, chopped
  • 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Place the pie crust on a baking sheet.
  2. In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the butter and chopped unsweetened chocolate together, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat.
  3. In a separate large bowl, whisk together the sugar, flour, and salt.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time to the sugar mixture, beating well after each addition.
  5. Stir in the vanilla extract and milk until just combined.
  6. Gradually pour the melted chocolate mixture into the batter, mixing until everything is smooth and uniform. Do not overmix.
  7. Pour the batter into the unbaked pie crust.
  8. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes. The edges should look set, but the center should still be slightly soft and gooey when gently shaken.
  9. Let the pie cool on a wire rack for at least 30 minutes before slicing.
  10. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

  • For a fudgier texture, reduce the baking time by 5 minutes.
  • You can substitute the pre-made crust with a chocolate cookie crust for extra richness.
  • Store leftovers covered at room temperature for up to two days.
