Ingredients
Scale
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 cup powdered sugar
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Zest of 1 large orange
2 tablespoons fresh orange juice
10 ounces dark chocolate, chopped
1 tablespoon coconut oil (for coating)
Instructions
In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth.
Add the powdered sugar, cocoa powder, vanilla extract, orange zest, and orange juice to the cream cheese. Mix until fully combined and smooth.
Cover the bowl and chill the mixture in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or until firm enough to roll.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of the chilled mixture and roll them into balls. Place the balls on the prepared sheet.
Return the rolled truffles to the refrigerator for another 30 minutes to firm up completely.
Melt the chopped dark chocolate and coconut oil together in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
Dip each chilled truffle into the melted chocolate, ensuring it is fully coated. Return the coated truffles to the parchment-lined sheet.
Refrigerate the finished truffles for at least 1 hour before serving to allow the chocolate shell to set.
Notes
For a different texture, roll the finished truffles in finely chopped candied orange peel or extra cocoa powder instead of chocolate coating.
Store unused truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
If the mixture is too soft to roll after chilling, return it to the freezer for 15 minutes.
