Make a creamy, indulgent hot chocolate topped with a light, fluffy whipped cocoa topping using only a few simple ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream

Instructions

  1. Heat the milk in a small saucepan over medium heat until warm, but not boiling.
  2. Remove the milk from the heat and whisk in the cocoa powder and granulated sugar until fully dissolved and smooth. Pour the chocolate milk into your serving mug.
  3. In a separate chilled bowl, combine the heavy whipping cream.
  4. Using an electric mixer or a whisk, beat the heavy cream until stiff peaks form, creating the whipped topping. This takes about 3 to 5 minutes.
  5. Spoon the whipped cream generously over the top of the warm chocolate milk.
  6. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use melted dark chocolate instead of cocoa powder in the milk base.
  • If you do not have an electric mixer, you can whip the cream by hand, but it will require more effort.
  • To make this drink faster, heat the milk in the microwave instead of on the stove.
