Make rich, dense chocolate fudge squares flavored with strong espresso. This recipe sets without baking and requires minimal preparation time.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons strong brewed espresso or 2 teaspoons instant espresso powder dissolved in 1 tablespoon hot water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup crushed graham crackers or vanilla wafers (optional, for texture)

Instructions

  1. Line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on two sides for easy removal. Lightly grease the paper.
  2. In a medium saucepan over low heat, combine the sweetened condensed milk, semi-sweet chocolate chips, dark chocolate chips, and butter.
  3. Stir constantly until the chocolate and butter are completely melted and the mixture is smooth. Do not let the mixture boil.
  4. Remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in the prepared espresso (or dissolved espresso powder), vanilla extract, and salt until fully incorporated.
  5. If using, fold in the crushed graham crackers or wafers until evenly distributed.
  6. Pour the fudge mixture into the prepared pan and spread it evenly with a spatula.
  7. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or until the fudge is firm enough to cut.
  8. Use the parchment paper overhang to lift the fudge from the pan. Place it on a cutting board and cut into 16 squares.

Notes

  • For the best coffee flavor, use high-quality instant espresso powder.
  • If you prefer a smoother fudge without added texture, omit the crushed crackers.
  • Store the finished squares in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
